What is boudoir photography?

Boudoir photography is a tasteful, classic, beautiful, sexy, way for the modern woman to appreciate herself and her body. Often the images are given as a gift to a significant other, but the gift you give yourself may be even more valuable. Every woman should see herself in this way! Timeless priceless images you will look at again and again over the years. These images are reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour, never "glamour shots"!

How it's done...

Shoots are done in our studio in Portland using a variety of backdrops and settings. I strive to make each shoot look unique using both natural and artistic lighting. When you arrive you will be treated to hair and makeup as part of your session. We'll go over your outfits and your comfort level for posing and what to wear. I'll coach you throughout your session but you'll be surprised how much of it is just laying there looking pretty!

The images...

Images are always touched up and perfected... you will look your best and you will love what you see. Your digital proofs will be available about two weeks from your shoot date and emailed to you for privacy. You will also be emailed a contact sheet of images to choose your favorites from for your album or coffee table book.

What to bring...

Does he play guitar? Bring it! Does he work in an office? Bring his button down shirt and a tie or even his favorite ratty tee from college. Is he a fireman? Steal his jacket for the day. Guys love it when you take their favorite things and pose in them. Go on a little shopping spree and get yourself something sweet, the more outfits and choices we have the better. Vibrant colors like turquoise and hot pink photograph beautifully. Frills and bows, ribbons on undies... all these little details look great in photos. Girl shorts are flattering on almost everyone, as well as corsets and nighties. You'll also be wrapped in sheets and fabric too, or if you choose, nothing at all! It's up you and your comfort level.

Jewelry can add so much to an image, be sure to bring your favorite pieces or simple costume necklaces and bracelets.

How to prepare for your session...

Pose in front of the mirror. I'm not kidding, it helps. Suck in the tummy, stick out your butt and put those shoulders back and show off what your momma gave ya!

On the day of your shoot be sure to use body lotion for a nice sheen to the skin, nothing with too much shimmer of course (looks sweaty on film) but just enough for hydration. Arrive with no makeup and dry hair (and yes you can wash it).
